Hi Everyone,

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree." (Psalm 92:12)

As I read this Psalm, I began to wonder, 'what is a palm tree like? What is this telling us?'

So, I decided to check it out and found some interesting facts about the palm tree!

  • Even under attack, it thrives! Most trees get their nutrients to survive just below the bark, so when you cut them, they die, but not the palm tree; its life comes from its core, so when you cut it, you can’t kill it, even under attack it thrives! Is that you?
  • It bends but it won’t break! Most trees can get blown away by tropical storms, but not the palm tree! It bends all the way down to the ground and then straightens up again and it actually gets stronger!! We were meant to bend, not to break! (1 John 5:4-5) “For everyone born of God overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”
  • The roots of an average tree go just a few feet under, the roots of the palm tree go deeper in search of water! Psalm 42:1 says “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.” God wants us to have a deep relationship with Him so that we will not be uprooted or blown away when we encounter the storms of life. How deep are your roots? Do you need to deepen your relationship with God?
  • The palm also represents victory! People would wave them around when an army came home with the victory! Jesus won the victory for us! Colossians 2:15 says “Having disarmed powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”   Romans 8:37 tells us that even in trials and our problems we are more than conquerors!   So, I think we are called to be palm trees! We are not here to be overcome but to rise up even stronger after every storm and laugh the laugh of faith!

More Scriptures: Proverbs 24:10, Psalm 1:3, 84:5, Jerimiah 17:8, Colossians 1:11

“Let your roots grow down into Him and let your life be built on him, then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:7)

God Bless you all and have a great week!

Love Giovanna!
