Hi Everyone,

Today I want to look at Luke 4:14-41, have a read. This is very challenging but I think we need to be honest with ourselves. Did you ever think that sometimes we miss what God wants to give us or do in our lives because He doesn’t do it the way we expect Him to do it?

Or doesn’t use the people who we think are the ‘anointed ones’?

Or just because we know them and have become too familiar with them?

This was the case with Jesus when He went to His Hometown in Nazareth. (Luke 4:16-30)

He was just Joseph’s son, they watched Him grow up, so how dare He place Himself in the same league as Elijah and Elisha! They were so offended at His comments and rejected Him. The result was that they missed out on seeing God’s miracle-working power in their midst.

Have a look at 2 Kings 5:1-14. Naaman almost missed out on His healing because Elisha didn’t do what he was expecting him to do but because he was encouraged by those around him to do what he was told he went away cleansed of leprosy.

Have you ever been rejected when you have tried to minister to someone just because they were too familiar with you? Or because you’re not a pastor or a leader? Notice family is the hardest to minister to!

So, Jesus was unable to do miracles in His hometown, yet everywhere else He went, many were healed and delivered! We read about that in Luke 4:31-41. It says that many were healed, not just the odd one or two. In fact, everyone who came to Him was healed! No matter what they were suffering. Nothing was too difficult or beyond JESUS’ healing power! And you know what, Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

Here’s another thought. Do you know anyone who has chased visiting speakers or healing evangelists for prayer? Why? Isn’t it the same God that heals whether it’s someone important praying or the dear old lady in the congregation?

So, why are people tempted to focus on the man instead of the Healer?

Here’s something else to think about. Have we become too familiar with Jesus? Has He become just a friend instead of our Lord and Saviour? When we take communion do, we stop and think about what He suffered on the cross? Let it never become just something we do between the praise and the preaching!

We need to remember that Jesus paid a price that cost Him His life, just so we could be released out of the enemy’s claws! (Colossians 1:13 & Hebrews 2:14-15)

Oh, how thankful I am! How wonderful He is! Oh, how I love Him!

Have a think about that and every time you do, give Him praise!

Remember the only reason we have a ticket to heaven is that He was willing to purchase it with His own Blood! (1 Peter 1:3-5 & 18-20)

Psalm 23:1 (NLT) “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have everything I need!”

Jesus is my everything! How about You?

Maybe it’s time to rekindle the flame?

God Bless and have a great week!

Love Giovanna!
