Hi Everyone,

How many times have we read the story of Mary and Martha and perhaps thought, 'Poor Martha, she had to do everything by herself. Mary must have been lazy!' or 'Silly Martha, she missed out on that precious time with Jesus because of her busyness!'

Depending on your personality, you probably see yourself as either one or the other.
Have a read of Luke 10:38-42.

Here we read that Mary sat at Jesus' feet listening, enjoying and taking in His every word. Martha wasn't doing anything wrong, but it says she was distracted with all the dinner preparations. Wasn't that a good thing? Yes, she wanted to feed Jesus, but she's made it more important than Jesus. The dinner had become her priority, not Jesus! You see, it was more important to let Jesus feed her.

Distractions and busyness can do the same to us. We can become so preoccupied with doing, doing, doing all the time, even when we think we're doing it for God, that we forget the most important thing and what He desires most, just spending time with Him, enjoying each other's beautiful, peaceful, life-giving presence! And yes, we do need to be working and doing our everyday chores, but we must, and I say must, find time to spend with our Lord.

That's what gives us the strength, the peace that passes all understanding, that's what get's us through the storms of life, that's what brings healing to our whole being, physical and emotional, that's what brings an unspeakable joy in our hearts. It refreshes and restores!

People can tell when we've been with Jesus, it shows, and it glows from within us.

Exodus 34:34-35 says that Moses had to wear a veil because of the radiant glow on his face from being in God's presence.  Acts 4:13 says that when the members of the Sanhedrin saw Peter and John, they could tell that they had been with Jesus. Why? Because they sounded and acted like Him! Whoever you spend time with and whatever you see and hear makes a difference and influences your thoughts, actions and character. Mark 6:56 Tells us that all who touched Him were healed! Luke 8:44 says that the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus' garment and was healed!   So how can we touch Jesus now? By spending time in His beautiful Presence!

Make a time that suits you, and don't let anyone or anything distract you. We all need it every day! Don't rush. Just let Him saturate and infuse you with His fragrant Presence! Just sit at His feet and be strengthened; it really is life-giving!

"You will show me the path of life, in your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore." (Psalm 16:11)
