Hi Everyone,
With ANZAC Day approaching, I'm reminded of how, on 25th April 1915, Australian Soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli. By nightfall of that day, 2000 of them had been killed or fatally wounded; most of them were just boys! Boys that went out to fight for their country, to protect, defend and preserve the next generation. Their bravery and sacrifice is something we still honour now, year-after-year we remember and thank them for their selfless actions!
As a mother and grandmother, every time I think about this, it brings me to tears. When I think about all the mothers and widows left with fatherless children, some who had never met their fathers at all and all the widowed brides that never saw their loving bridegroom again. These young men fought for their families and country.
As soldiers in the army of God, we are all in a battle, Not with men but with the enemy of our souls! We must remember that we are "not fighting flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12)
We have an enemy that is constantly trying to steal from us. (John 10:10) He's trying to steal the abundant life Jesus suffered and died for so that we may have life-eternal.
Let's not forget, that Jesus has already won the victory! (Colossians 2:15 (AMP)) says, "God disarmed the principalities and powers that we raged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him on the cross."
So we are not fighting for victory but from victory!
We need to remind our enemy that the battle has been won, so stop trespassing on our land!
We are fighting to defend our next generation (if Jesus tarries) for our children!
God loved us so much that He allowed His precious Son to die for us so that we could be free (Galatians 5:1 & 13) and reconciled back to Him.
I wonder how many of us would die for Him if we were put in that situation? Do we love Him enough to do that? Or would we deny Him?
Many have been martyred, and still are, over the years because of their faith (and some may be called to do that still), but for most of us, we are called to live for Him and show this world filled with hopelessness and darkness, the love of God through us! So let's do that as Jesus commanded us in Matthew 28:18-20.
And remember to "Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you to...." (1 Timothy 6:12)
