Hi Everyone,

While on the phone with one of my granddaughters recently, she reminded me of a dream that she'd had when she was about 6 years old. She's now 14 and she said that God had reminded her of this dream and she couldn't stop thinking about it, so she called me, to ask what I thought. The conversation went something like this -

"Nonna, remember that dream I had when I was little?"

"Remind me", I replied.

"Well, in the dream Jesus was having a big party and I saw people blowing up balloons and putting up streamers and doing all those things that we do for parties and then Jesus looked at me and smiled as He put something in my hand and said 'Go, hand out the invitations'"

"Oh yes I remember, you were only little and were very excited about it, though you had no idea what it meant", I replied.

"Nonna, I think He's reminding me to hand out the invitations, and I think He wants me to do it now!"

We continued to talk about it for a while and both agreed that yes, Jesus wants those invitations handed out! As I got off the phone I thought, wow! God is speaking to us through children, maybe we adults get too busy with the cares of life and are not really listening to His voice.

I shared Luke 14:16-24 with her. The parable of the Great Feast. Have a read of it, because I really believe God is trying to get our attention.

In this parable, we see several things that we can relate to in our world around us today.

  • There was a lack of appreciation and respect for the host who invited them. We see that towards God today.

  • They were making excuses to reject the invitation.

  • The supper was ready so there was no time for the 'some other time or later' excuse.

  • Everyone is invited no matter how rich or poor, status, disability etc. everyone! (vs 21-23)

  • Everyone has a free will to accept or reject Jesus' invitation.

Have you accepted His invitation? If you have perhaps it's time for you to hand out invites to others. In fact, I believe God is calling us all to hand out His invitations. Not all will accept, of course, some will reject it and some will even mock but that's not our responsibility, ours is only to invite them.

Invite them to what? You may ask.

Introduce them to Jesus, the Saviour of us all.

Luke 19:10 says "For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost."

This is the most important invitation they will ever receive and the most important acceptance/ decision they will ever make.

We are not inviting them just to meet the pastor or to join a church or denomination, it's not about the building or the programs, all those things are good but it's all about Jesus! Everything must point to Jesus! Tell them what He's done in your life. Tell them that He's the only way to God. (John 14:6) And how a relationship with Him is the most important thing in our lives because it's eternal, not temporary like everything else we see around us. In fact, this decision determines our eternal address!

Jesus said He's coming back soon to take all His saints back home, for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7-9, Revelation 22:7, 12 + 20) and to be with Him forever!

So let's invite as many as we can to come with us! Can you think of anyone that you might want to hand out an invitation to?

"How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? and how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?" (Romans 10:14)
