Hi Everyone,

Have a read of Matthew 14:13-21.

This is about the feeding of the 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish. Note in vs.16 how when the disciples wanted to send the people away to buy their own food, Jesus says to them “… you feed them”. Their response was but…but…! How many times did Jesus have to show them that He was God of miracles and that nothing was impossible? He had already given them the authority to go out and preach the good news, heal the sick etc. (Matthew 10:1-2). Yet they still made excuses, we would never do that, would we?

The truth is that we’ve all probably done it! We miss opportunities to share the good news, to feed them and send them away hungry and thirsty looking for the answers in the things of the world, which will never satisfy, yes, they may entertain or seem good for a while but will never satisfy that hunger that we all know comes from God and only He can fill that emptiness that each person feels until they receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! That’s why people often get into cults or go reading their stars on horoscopes because they’re empty and are looking for something to feed them. But why look to the stars when we can have a relationship with the One who made the stars!

For long enough we’ve been leaving it for the Evangelists and Pastors to feed people but I believe the time has come that Jesus would say to all of us “Don’t send them away… you feed them!” ‘Who me?’ you might say…’ I don’t know what to say…I’m not a good speaker… etc.’ That’s what Moses said and we’re still using that excuse! But we all have testimonies of God’s goodness and power in our lives, of how He turned our lives around… start with that and then you’ll find that the Holy Spirit will start to move through you to reach them. He always does! He walks with us.

That’s what happened in Mark 16:20.

“And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.”

We must not forget that we are temples of the Holy Spirit, if we just step out in faith with what little we have HE can multiply it and do what we could never achieve in our own strength! (Mark 6:35-44, Luke 9:13)

Again I say, people are walking around lost and hungry, looking to the things of the world, but there isn’t a doctor, counsellor, psychologist etc. that can do what Jesus can do, He is the true Bread of Life that will satisfy (John 6:58)! Now I’m not saying that these people are not helpful, yes, of course, they are and at times we all need them but only Jesus can fill that emptiness.

So, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it’s time for us all to step out in faith and feed the hungry!

Remember what Jesus said…” You feed them”  (Matthew 14:16)
